Gentle Japanese Painting — 5 Tips to Find “WHY”
February 25 - April 4, 2021
Among the many different types of art, there is a certain unique "gentleness" that can be felt in the beauty of Japanese paintings. The term "gentleness" connotes feelings of calm, modest tenderness and quiet depth, but we have surprisingly few opportunities to examine works and contemplate ”WHY” exactly we feel this way.
At this exhibition, we aim to unravel that ”WHY” and get to the bottom of what makes Japanese paintings so alluring, viewing the works from five different angles to gain clues: namely, asking ourselves, "when," "where," "who," "what," and "how"? Won't you join us to see and feel works in a new light, exploring all the gentleness to be found in seasonal flowers, heart-warming sceneries, calm uses of color, grand spirituality, or in expressions of sorrow?
