Special: ”HIROSHIMA APPEALS” and Posters for Peace from Around the World
July 15 - October 12, 2021

"HIROSHIMA APPEALS" is a project produced by the Japan Graphic Designers Association [JAGDA] Hiroshima section, along with other organizers, which aims to create and present posters that promote peace in Japan and abroad. Since 1983, one designer has been chosen every year [temporary breaks included], and the project still continues today in 2021. This year, in addition to this series, we will also introduce posters that promote peace from both Japan and abroad. Please come see how designers from Japan and all over the world make their appeals for peace.
Here, visitors can view a great number of posters that carry strong messages and symbolically convey wishes and express life, all the way from the masterful works of Yusaku Kamekura and Ikko Tanaka, major figures of the postwar design world, up to works by currently-active designers like Taku Satoh and Yoshie Watanabe. The 2021 "HIROSHIMA APPEALS" poster [design: Takuya Onuki] was also exhibited.
