This exhibit offers a retrospective of 20th-century Western art, combining the collections of three public art museums— Yokohama Museum of Art, Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art and Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design— which have come together to form a “TRIALOGUE” [a conversation between three parties].
We have carefully selected works, primarily paintings, from the masters of 20th-century Western art who colored and shaped the era, letting us introduce visitors to a total of 120 pieces from artists like Picasso, Klee, Miró, Ernst, Dali, Magritte, Pollock, Bacon and Richter. Please come enjoy an expansive exhibit which is interwoven such that the collections from the three museums complement one another.

Since opening in the 1980s and 1990s, these three museums have amassed extensive collections of 20th-century Western art. Now, their most cherished works are coming together under one roof. Please come enjoy the numerous crown jewels from the collections of each museum, divided into three 30-year sections that trace the movements of 20th-century art.
