TAD Collection Ⅱ “Highlights of 20th Century Art”
/ “Discover Toyama: Travel Toyama with Artists”

July 2 - September 8, 2020

We have expanded the exhibition space to 2 rooms this time in order to allow all our guests to enjoy the Museum to its fullest. In Exhibition Room 1, we introduce the highlights of 20th century art using 4 mini themes. Other than main themes that define art, such as 【Human expression】 and 【Room】, we also featured themes which add impact to artwork, such as 【Movement】 and 【Action/Trace】. Additionally, you can also enjoy foreign art such as Giacometti’s 《Femme debout》sculpture, drawings by Picasso like the《Femme dans un fauteuil》and other artists, and Japanese art like《Genesis No.5 by Josaku Maeda, an artist with a strong relation to Toyama as well as Keiji Usami’s《Sign and Morphogenesis #64》and others.

In Exhibition Room 2, we have the Special Exhibit “Discover Toyama: Travel Toyama with Artists” where we exhibit pieces from the “Draw Toyama” series created by renowned artists of the Showa and Heisei era who travelled Toyama. These include the beautiful sceneries of the Tateyama mountain range and Toyama Bay, depictions of traditional festivals, and snapshots of Toyama’s charming culture. While travelling through Toyama and witnessing the rich nature and culture of Toyama, what discoveries did they make, and how their art came to fruition. Enjoy the rich landscape of nostalgic Toyama through the eyes of these renowned artists as if you were travelling together with them.
