The Collection of Shuzo Takiguchi
Artists of GALLERY TAKEMIYA
December 17, 2020 - April 27, 2021
GALLERY TAKEMIYA was an art gallery that was active in the 1950s in what is present day Kanda-Ogawamachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Shuzo Takiguchi worked in selecting and negotiating with exhibition artists at this gallery without compensation, and fostered exchanges with Abe Nobuya, Yayoi Kusama and Kano Mitsuo, who, at the time, were indeed still young and unknown artists. At the exhibition on this occasion, there will be presented works from GALLERY TAKEMIYA and works by related artists on exhibition, all of which from The Collection of Shuzo Takiguchi.
Nomiyama Gyoji, a 100-year-old active painter, also hosted a personal exhibition at GALLERY TAKEMIYA by the selection of Takiguchi. Please pay a visit and enjoy the presented work 《Woman in a Room》 [1950], donated to the museum last fiscal year by Mr. Nomiyama.
