Ultimate TAD Children's Museum of Art and Design
Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design 5th Anniversary The World of Illustrations for Children's Books 2022

May 28 - July 5, 2022

Exhibition of 350 original drawings printed in "Kodomo no tomo" [lit. Friend of Children] picture books, such as "Guri and Gura", "Her First Shopping" and more.

"Kodomo no tomo" was first published by Fukuinkan Shoten Publishers, Inc. in 1956 with the aim of creating a picture book that allowed children to experience high-quality art. They released monthly picture books containing drawings from various types of artists, such as painters, sculptors, and manga artists, which gave birth to countless well-known picture books.
This exhibition will feature around 350 of the precious original drawings printed in picture books by 34 artists carefully selected from the collection owned by The Miyagi Museum of Art. Learn about the humble beginnings of Japanese picture books, which are loved by both children and adults alike, and enjoy the lovely original drawings.
