Szymon Goldberg and Miyoko Yamane’s CollectioⅡ
July 20 - October 31, 2023

Theme: Instrumental Duet Between Form and Color – Jacques Villon Szymon Goldberg (1909 - 1993) was a remarkable violinist who led a turbulent life as a Jew. He collected artworks that resonated with his views of life and art and always kept them at hand and treasured them. According to his wife Miyoko Yamane, Szymon sought beauty nearby, and he especially loved the movements of form and color. At this exhibition, we shall show you works featuring those of Jacques Villon (1875 - 1963) from the Goldberg Collection donated to our museum. During the first half of the 1910s, Jacques, who was influenced by Cubism, tried to represent objects by breaking them down into their geometrical forms. On the other hand, you can see that he also had a strong interest in color, using various colors while changing their shades. Please enjoy the beautiful harmony of form and color performed by a painter whom the Goldberg couple loved.
