Yasuki Kanayama and Jyosaku Maeda: The 100th Anniversary of Birth
~Two Solo Exhibitions Featuring Works from the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design’s Collection~
April 11 - June 23, 2026

The Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design presents the Fiscal 2026 “Collection Exhibition I: Special Exhibition Yasuki Kanayama and Jyosaku Maeda: The 100th Anniversary of Birth ~Two Solo Exhibitions Featuring Works from the Toyama Prefectural Museum of Art and Design’s Collection~” in Exhibition Room 2 on the museum’s second floor.
In 2026, which marks the 100th anniversary of the births of two painters associated with Toyama Prefecture—Yasuki Kanayama (1926–1959) and Jyosaku Maeda (1926–2007)—the museum will hold two solo exhibitions primarily featuring works from its collection as part of its Collection Exhibition Special Feature program.
We hope visitors will enjoy the world of Kanayama’s still-life paintings, characterized by their blue-toned palette, as well as the mandala-inspired universe rooted in Maeda’s distinctive artistic vision.
