Szymon Goldberg and Miyoko Yamane’s Collection Ⅰ
April 9 - July 14, 2026

Gifts from Musicians
Szymon Goldberg (1909-1993) was a Polish-born Jewish violinist and conductor who experienced two world wars, and lived through the turbulent 20th century until his death in Toyama(1909-1993).
This exhibition features works of art from Goldberg's collection, which were donated by his wife Miyoko in 2006.
Szymon Goldberg believed that, in the pursuit of music, one should engage with a wide range of cultural fields—including literature and the visual arts—and cultivate one’s musical artistry from a broad intellectual perspective. After moving to the United States in 1984 and resuming his musical career, he gradually began surrounding himself with works of art.
This exhibition presents six works from Goldberg’s treasured personal collection, including Herbert Bayer’s 《1958.1》, which was also featured on the cover of Szymon Goldberg Lecture Notes.
